Encourage Thyself in the Lord

Downhearted and disgruntled,
Discouraged and depressed...
Down trodden and despondent,

Distraught and so distressed? 

Encourage thyself like David did,

Don't give the devil place.

Forget the pity party,

Hop to! ...about-face! 

 

Take counsel from the Lord of Hosts.

Don't fret, and moan and stew.

Surely He will guide you

And show you what to do. 

 

Has He ever failed you?

Don't get so overwhelmed.

He's the Captain of Salvation,

Let Him take the helm.  

Encourage thyself like David.

Recall God's mighty deeds.

Be reminded of His promises,

Then you will succeed.
