Riches were his security,
His faith was in his wealth.
He ignored the One who gave him
Life and breath and health.
One day his foundations were shaken
Having not built upon the rock.
The sand shifted underneath him;
He was overcome with fear and shock.
Destruction all about him…
Collapsed, entire walls.
Oh how a haughty spirit
Precedes a mighty fall.
Once there was a humble man
Who placed his trust in God…
Always making certain
On the narrow path to trod.
He hoarded not vain treasures,
Neither sought for earthly fame.
He built his life on a sure foundation
For he believed on Jesus’ name.
The name of the Lord was his strong tower
Where this righteous one could flee.
Christ was his place of refuge
From the winds of adversity.
The Tower wouldn’t sway or shudder
It weathered well the storm…
For the walls of this strong Tower
Were the mighty arms of God.

Proverbs 18:10
“The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.”
Proverbs 16:18
“Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.”
Matthew 7:24-27
Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
