Sin's Seriousness

Sin's Seriousness
By George Thurlow (c) 6/2/20

God doesn't regard lightly
Disobedient ways;
For rebellion is as witchcraft
Even to this day.
The Word of God it changes not
He does not wink at sin,
But a broken and a contrite heart
Is pleasing unto Him.

1 Samuel 15: 22-23
And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. 23For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

Art He That Troubleth Israel?

ART HE THAT TROUBLETH ISRAEL?
By George Thurlow (c)6/1/20

"Art he that troubleth Israel?"
How quickly we do blame,
But for the source of current problems
We need not look beyond our name.

Often struggles find us
When we disobey,
The Word that God instructed
And go off on our own way.

1 Kings 18:17-18
"And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, Art thou who troubleth Israel? And he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but thou, and thy father's house, in that ye have forsaken the commandments of the Lord, and thou hast followed Baalim."

Pressing On

Pressing On
By George Thurlow
Copyright 1/7/2020

The vision of heaven's Glory,
Is far greater than all our trials,
Empowering to keep striving
And to run that extra mile.

Pressing on towards the mark
To obtain that cherished prize,
Forgetting all behind us
With that goal all focalized.

With concentrated effort,
Making the most of every day,
As good stewards of His blessings
To show the lost the way.

Remembering we are not our own
But have been crucified with Christ,
The temple of the Holy Ghost
To lead surrendered lives.

Pressing on towards that mark
Never looking back
Eyes upon the Savior
To keep us right on track.

Thou
Crownest the Year with Thy Goodness
By George Thurlow
Copyright 1/1/2020

Thou crownest the year with Thy goodness,
In Your presence blessings flow,
A deluge of satisfaction
Washes away all woes.

You restore to my soul contentment,
In You I am fulfilled,
As a sheep in Your peaceful pasture
I jump joyously on the hills.

You crown this new year with excitement,
My spirit has been renewed,
I'm anticipating victory,
In all I'm called to do.

A new perspective and vision
You have planted in my heart,
My life it is not winding down
But it's only begun to start.

You crownest the year with Thy goodness,
You do every thing so well,
How I love You Abba Father
In your presence I choose to dwell.

Psalms 65:11
Thou crownest the year with thy goodness.
